Utah's Health Care Workforce Studies
Driven by the legislative mandate to conduct ongoing health care workforce analysis (Utah Code Section 63C-8-104. Duties of the Council), the Utah Medical Education Council (UMEC) conducts periodic health care workforce studies. Under this charge, the UMEC has traditionally produced two forms of publications - workforce profiles and workforce reports. The workforce profiles are compiled using data available from various sources, while the workforce reports are compiled using survey data collected by the UMEC.
For every health care profession being studied, the UMEC is guided by a Workforce Advisory Committee. These committees are comprised of relevant health care professionals and professional organization representatives, health care industry representatives, Utah Department of Health representatives, academic representatives, community health representatives and public members at large.
Once the workforce study has been completed, a report or a profile is put together and published after approval from the Workforce Advisory Committee and the UMEC Board. Copies of the workforce reports and profiles are freely available to public and can be downloaded from our website. A hard copy can be obtained by contacting Julie Olson at juolson@utah.gov or (801)526-4550.
Please visit our Publications page to download the workforce reports you are interested in.
