Practice Information

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the RVUCOM-SU Campus Dean and the Associate Dean of Integrated Curriculum in planning, implementing, and managing the overall curriculum at the RVUCOM-SU campus.


Work closely with the RVUCOM-SU Campus Dean and the Associate Dean of Integrated Curriculum to provide direction for the department chairs, faculty, staff and students in planning, developing and implementing the undergraduate curriculum at the RVUCOM-SU campus.
Assist the RVCOM-SU Campus Dean as the main curricular liaison with the RVUCOM-Colorado campus.
Oversee and support the Phase Directors in the day-to-day management of the curriculum at the RVUCOM-SU campus.
Oversee and manage the Southern Utah Assistant Director of the Testing Center to ensure timely exam preparation, administration, and review.
Interface and facilitate coordination between the Phase Directors and The Testing Center to ensure appropriate scheduling of courses, exams, graded assignments, standardized patients, and simulation assessments.
Provide assistance and counsel to department chairs in the development and management of budgets as they relate to the curriculum.
Help ensure effective and efficient operational/educational functions and procedures consistent with university and college policies.
Assist in the collection and analysis of educational data in meeting RVUCOM’s educational goals.
Help in the oversight and direction for the Continuous Quality Assessment and Quality Improvement process for all RVUCOM-SU curricular components.
Mentor and support faculty in on-going development of educational paradigms to include requisite innovations and evolution, as indicated by data-driven academic outcomes.
Assist in the development and implementation of evaluation procedures and methodologies for assessing student academic, professional, ethical performance and appropriate achieved competencies in RVUCOM’s undergraduate curriculum.
Serve on institutional committees and task forces as requested by the Dean’s Office.
Help oversee the compliance of accreditation standards of the American Osteopathic Association Commission of Osteopathic College Accreditation, and the Higher Learning Commission. Further, assist in a leadership role during all preparations of accreditation inspections.
Help identify research grant opportunities and mentor faculty in research activities.
Work closely with the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs of the Southern Utah campus to help enforce RVUCOM policies, procedures, and student assessments.
Other duties as assigned by the Campus Dean or his/her designee.


Assist administration, faculty and staff in special projects as required.
Act as liaison between the College, the professional community, other educational institutions and organizations, state and federal agencies as indicated and directed by the Dean.
Participate in relevant and appropriate community and professional outreach activities on behalf of the college and the university.


Outstanding organizational and communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate leadership and team building.
Advanced level of computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Ability to work with high level attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently.
Ability to recognize and solve problems quickly.
Ability to work effectively and cohesively in a team-based environment.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of protected data (student grades, etc)
Knowledge of University and College Policy and Procedures, Clinical Education Preceptor Manual, student services and activities.
Ability to work off-campus and travel.


PhD, DO or MD degree earned from an AOA or LCME accredited college of osteopathic or allopathic medicine.
At least three years of experience in medical school education.
Demonstrations of scholarly activity, research, service to public or profession.


Previous leadership experience in a medical school.
Five years of experience in medical education.
Experience with medical school curriculum.
Demonstrations of professional involvement and leadership in medical organizations.
Knowledgeable in the principles of osteopathic medicine.
